SafeRest Mattress Protector Review and Spill Test

When you talk about mattress protectors, SafeRest is often brought up. It seems the whole internet is in love with them from all the reviews. I wanted to see what the big deal is or better yet see if it can stop liquids. I also wanted to address some of the big factors of why you need a mattress protector and determine if the SafeRest Mattress Protector could solve those issues.

Here is a video showing a real-world test of spilling soda on the SafeRest Mattress Protector

Why You Need A Mattress Protector

The majority of the posts I do on this site always go back to how important a Mattress Protector can be. Here is just a handful of great posts where the importance of Mattress Protectors come in…

5 Reasons Why You Need A Mattress Protector For College

Are Mattress Warranties Worth It? – Let’s Talk About it

How To Clean Memory Foam Mattress or Topper From Stains

With the rising costs of mattresses and how warranties work for some mattresses, you need to protect them. Many mattress makers will void the warranty if they see the slightest of stains.

Don’t forget, even if you think you’re a clean person you still sweat, drool, and do “adult stuff” on your mattress. A normal human will leave behind something no matter if it’s you or your late night drink.

Since a mattress is a giant sponge that soaks up all kinds of stuff over the years do you really want to be sleeping on that? Or would you rather have a barrier that can be changed out or cleaned?

What Do You Buy?

When the pain of not knowing if you’ll make a mess, void your warranty, or the fear of sleeping on who know’s what for years then getting a Mattress Protector makes sense. The next question you’ll have is “what do you buy?

When it comes to buying I highly recommend looking at what other real people are saying in the reviews of the product. Never trust just one person, see what the majority is saying. Check out what the reviews on the SafeRest Mattress Protector say here on Amazon. *

The Biggest Concerns

Some people fear getting a Mattress Protector because the old ones were not that great. The old ones were vinyl, so they did not breathe well and were loud.

With modern Mattress Protectors, you don’t have this problem, or it’s not as bad as you might think. If you watched the video at the top you could see and hear the fabric. There is some sound to it but it’s not as bad as many people fear. When you have bed sheets over it you can barely even tell.

The top fabric is soft as you can see from the picture above.

The bottom of the SafeRest Mattress Protector is below.

The top side of the mattress is soft enough to sleep on if you ask me. While the bottom looks different then one might expect. It’s that bottom layer that does all the heavy lifting for when it comes to blocking liquids. If I had to describe what it feels like I would say it feels and looks like a glossy thick paper towel.

Does it sleep hot? I keep mine on a 10-inch king size memory foam mattress and I can’t tell a difference to be honest. To be fair I do sleep with the fan on all the time and just naturally sleep hot. But the wife can’t tell the difference either.

Things Of Note

One thing I do want to note is that the side fabric is not going to stop that many liquids (image above left side where you can see my hand is the side fabric). The right side of the image above is the underside which is meant to stop the liquids.

Also, This thing can fit a lot of different thicknesses of mattresses. It fits my 10-inch mattress just fine with tons more to spare.

I also have to point out the care instructions…

Is It Worth It?

In the end with the soda spill test I would say the SafeRest is worth it for when it comes to spills. And when you assume you’re human and you make mistakes and messes I can’t help but to suggest to everyone I talk to about mattresses that they should have a mattress protector.

For those wondering, I can’t see the soda stain after washing the mattress protector. I did blot the area with a clean towel for 5 minutes before putting in the washer.
