I’m the type of person who needs a fan in the bedroom for constant noise and cooling. The problem with most fans is that they oscillate around which can be disturbing and just plain annoying when you’re hot.
Vornado has created a new type of tower fan that I’ll do a little review on below. This fan does not oscillate, because of its constantly blowing air in all directions.
What’s interesting is that this tower fan is made to circulate the air in the room and not blow directly on you. You can have it blow on you but its design to give constant “cool breeze” like a ceiling fan would.
This works perfectly if you lack a ceiling fan in the bedroom like I do but want a tower fan in the bedroom. Plus, since it doesn’t rotate it doesn’t disturb your sleep. It gives constant air out and has a nice hum for sleeping.
This review on the Vornado Tower Fan will answer some common questions people have about this fan. It’s a really nice fan and clever design.
Vornado has many different types of tower fans. In this review, I’m mostly talking about the 184 tower fan.
Here is a small list of their other tower fans too…
How is it compared to other fans?
The Vornado Tower Fan is meant to circulate air in the room, unlike a normal desk or tower fan. Normal tower fans are directional while the Vornado is meant to spread wide and hit the walls and bounce back to create a circulation of air. It feels like a nice cool beach breeze compared to a normal fan.
Is the remote line of sight?
Yes, you will need to be in sight for the remote to work. If anything blocks the remote then it won’t transmit the signal to the fan.
How much air does it move?
The 184 whole room tower air circulator “41 inch” moves about 500 cfm.
Does it cool the room like an air conditioner does?
This is not an air conditioner and does not cool a room like A/C would. A/C works by removing hot air from a room. The Vornado works by moving the air around in the room to create a cool breeze that helps to evaporate sweat which makes you feel cooler.
How do you clean the Vornado Tower Fan?
The best way I could find to clean this fan and many others like it is to use those Swiffer 360 dusters.
Does it have a timer?
Yes, this tower fan does have a timer on it that will shut the fan off after a certain amount of time. Kind of like a sleep timer. It does NOT have a wake timer, which turn the fan on.
Is it hard to assemble?
This fan is super easy to put together.
Does it have filters?
No, this tower fan does not have any filters.
How does it do on carpet
The base of the fan is quite stable on carpet. If you have abnormally high carpet then I would look into a base for it.
