You suck at waking up. There I said it. I can only say that because I suck at it too, so that makes it okay to say. Its nothing to be ashamed of, we all have our weaknesses.
You’re probably looking for a solution to get your butt out of bed in the morning. You tried the loud annoying alarm clock. The spouse poking your alarm and you probably tried every annoying and physical method on the market.
They don’t work
These stupid annoying alarm clocks don’t work, they make me hate waking up and that’s the problem. For some odd reasons we use these stupid alarm clocks that blast a noise out and we use that to wake us up. We learn to hate that sound and thus we learn to hate waking up.
This hate is why we don’t want to get up.
You need to learn to love again, waking up that is.
About the only thing, I found that works to make me love waking up in the morning are those “light alarm clocks”. Light alarm clocks slowly turn on and get brighter to simulate waking up to the sunrise. Your body naturally loves this and responds very well to it. It’s got to be the best method for waking up in the morning and not hating life.
Best Light Alarm Clock EVER
There are so many light alarm clocks (wake up lights) that it can be hard to choose the best one. The one light alarm clock that I do recommend is the Philips HF3520 Wake-Up Light. It’s probably the best-looking alarm clock I have ever seen! Kind of odd to say that, but we should point out things in life that look good and add function to our lives.
The Philips light alarm has all the standard features you come to expect from an alarm clock like the snooze and radio. But the one cool feature I like is that the light works in the opposite direction. So not only does it wake you up slowly but when it’s bedtime the light will slowly dim down to ease you into sleep.
How cool is that!
About 30 minutes before you need to wake up the alarm clock goes to work. It slowly turns on and will continuously get brighter. This makes waking up a lot easier especially if you get up before the sun or in a room where you don’t get any sunlight through your windows.
One thing I noticed when playing with it is that it looks like a giant bulb. From past experiences bulbs get hot. So I was worried about touching it since I got kids. The good news is that it’s actually cool to the touch so it was never a problem.
What really blew me away was the bird alarm on it. You can wake up with freaking birds and sunlight – like you’re waking up in a field on a beautiful spring day.
No More Scare
The real reason why I sprung for this alarm is to avoid the early morning scare. That simply does not work for most people. Why must I have a heart attack from an alarm clock to get me up in the morning? I find that with the light alarm that I wake up more relax and less stressed in the morning because I wasn’t scared to life with buzzing.
I did find a video on the Philips wake up light here…
