Review: Hanna Kay Mattress Protector

I want to go into a little bit more detail on a particular mattress protector made by Hanna Kay. The Hanna Kay Premium Waterproof Mattress Protector is one of the best mattress protectors I’ve to handle.

What I’ve noticed was that there is a lack of people answering some of the common questions on it. So this is what I want to do, I want to answer some of the questions you might have about it. Hopefully, this helps you in the buying decision.

I do recommend you check out the reviews and what other people are saying about this mattress protector here.

Does it sleep hot?

No, not at all. One of the biggest problems with a lot of mattress protectors is that they will sleep hot but not this one. I have no problem with it and actually sleep cool on it, but that’s just me.

Does it have a zipper?

No. This protector fits more like a fitted sheet. Offers plenty of protection and a zipper is not needed. In fact I hate zipper protectors because they’re so hard put on and take off. Plus this is easier to clean and makes less noise when you wash it and dry it. Just a personal opinion.

Does it sound like plastic?

Mattress protectors are getting a bad rap because of the old styles of them. The old ones had plastic in them to keep water out. These modern ones like the Hanna Kay Mattress Protector do not sound like plastic. If anything it feels like a regular bed sheet.

These modern mattress protectors are amazing and work very well. So no worries, this protector is quiet and makes no crinkly sounds.

Can you use a topper?

This fits like a fitted sheet, so you can use a mattress topper on it. I would stick to 4 inches or less for a mattress topper.

Yes, you can put this mattress protector in the dryer. Just make sure you use the lowest heat possible. I would recommend you wash it and dry it at lowest settings for both before you sleep on it.

Will it shrink from the dryer? No, I have not noticed any shrinking.

Do you still need a bed sheet?

I would still place a bed sheet over this mattress protector. You might have a bed sheet you really like and feels good to sleep on it so why break it up. Plus an extra layer of protection is fine too. This is just me, but I have favorite bed sheets I like to sleep on.

When should you wash it?

This is why you should place a bed sheet over this protector. You wash bed sheets every week. For a mattress protector I really only wash my 3 to 4 times a year. So about every season. The more you wash a mattress protector the more it doesn’t hold up.

Of course, you should wash it after a liquid accident.

Plus the bed sheet takes the brunt of the body oils and stains so that needs to be wash often. But the protector doesn’t see it as much.
