I had a unique problem given to me the other day. My friend needs to get rid of there old mattress to make room for the new mattress that was coming. Nothing odd about that until he told me that he’s embarrassed about his old mattress.
The guys who were coming to get his old mattress would be there at the end of the week and he’s looking at his old mattress and all the stains and nasty-ness it has. So as for me for a solution to his little problem.
I was kind of shocked by this questions as I’m sure the guys hauling the old mattress away have seen many nasty mattresses, but it really bugged him. So here were some of my solutions to this problem…
The quickest and probably the best solution would be to buy a mattress cover so to hide the mattress completely. The mattress cover are usually used for moving anyways so it will seem only natural to use them. I would tape up the ends of the cover so that no one goes into it for some odd reason.
Plus using a Mattress Cover and having them around is always a good idea for mattress storage and removal.
Clean The Mattress
Another solution to hold off the embarrassment of a dirty mattress is to simply clean it. Since you’re getting rid of it (I hope you’re getting rid of it) it won’t matter what you use to clean it. Clorox makes a cleaner that works well for mattresses called Urine Remover. That what I would use first since its really meant for that.
If you want to go for broke and don’t plan on keeping the mattress I would bring in the Pink Miracle. This stuff is really good at cleaning my shoes and other fabrics too. This is more for spot cleaning and makes sure you use a good scrub brush with it too.
Sure Bleach would clean it up, but also leaves spots of bleach which clearly says – look at me I have a nasty bed and I clean it with bleach.
Really the best bet is to use the mattress cover and just tape up the ends and be done with it. This is what you should do in case the mattress ends up somewhere small critters will make it home. The cover will keep the bugs out.
