The hard part is over and you have gotten a mattress that you really like. A question pops in your head “what else do I need with my new mattress?”
That is where this post comes in. I want to answer some of the questions of the “what next” since you have bought the mattress you want.
The very first thing you should be looking at after you have bought your new mattress is a Mattress Protector. These things are worth every penny.
Mattress Protectors do what their names say, they protect the mattress. What do they protect it from? Most spills and other body fluids. You know like sweat and stuff!
A good mattress protector can also prolong the life of your mattress since it doesn’t have liquids and things like crumbs coming in contact with it and destroying it. Some mattress manufacturers actually require you to have a mattress protector if you want to keep up your warranty.
So what kind of mattress protector should you get? You really can’t go wrong with the modern ones these days. The old ones made some noise, but these new ones really don’t make any noise at all and feel like a normal bed sheet.
Maybe Its Time For New Bed Frame?
Well you just got a new mattress so maybe its time to look at a new Bed Frame. Bed frames are not that expensive as you might think and can really make a bedroom look new too.
If you just bought a Memory foam or Latex mattress then you might want to consider a Platform bed frame. Platform beds look really modern and really cool too. Plus some sit higher so that you can store things under them.
New Bed Sheets
This should seem obvious, new bed sheets are a must. There is no magic to it, just get some new sheets. Don’t worry too much about thread count as it doesn’t matter as much as you think. Don’t believe me then check this out.
Really the best place to get new bed sheets is your local store like Target or any other store that carries them. The one problem with buying them local is that you don’t get the inventory you would if you bought online.
You can’t go wrong with a matching nightstand if you got a new bed frame. Sometimes you can’t find the exact match or the people who make the frame don’t make the night stand. But you can find many different ones that will work well with each other.
Also, don’t forget the alarm clock and desk lamp that will go with the whole new setup. Its been years since I’ve used an alarm clock, only because my phone has one built in. The one and only problem I have with using my phone as an alarm clock is that it’s not too loud. To fix this I bought one of these decorative bowl to place it in and it amplifies the sound enough to wake me. Pretty clever!
Keep Bed Sheets From Moving!
There exist a simple little thing called bed sheet suspenders that keep your bed sheets from coming off the mattress or just keep them from moving around. It’s really a clever idea and I highly recommend them if you ever had any issue with the bed sheet slipping off.
We all watch TV or read a book while we’re in bed, but we never think about where are we going to put that remote or book when we’re done with it.
The good news is that they make bed organizers. Some even mount to the bed frame itself!
Its a great idea to have one to keep your bed stuff organized and within reach when you need it.
What if your new mattress is smaller than the old one? Or the height is just not right and you want your bed to be higher? Well, you would get Bed Risers to make your beds height a little taller.
You can get bed risers just about anywhere, just be careful and get the ones that work for your bed and mattress weight.
The last thing I would recommend getting for your new mattress would be a vacuum for it. They make mattress vacuums that really can clean a mattress really well, some even have UV light to kill germs too!
These vacuums work much like any other vacuum but are sized for a mattress and really can clean them too. It just feels right after you have clean your mattress with a vacuum and knowing that you sucked up the old dead skin cells and dirt – the clean feeling is amazing and helps me sleep better.
