Can an Air Mattress get bed bugs? No, not really. Bed bugs like to dig into fabrics of mattresses to hide and wait for you to come to sleep and an Air Mattress doesn’t have any material for them to dig into.
This does not mean an Air Mattress stops bedbugs completely. The air mattress is safe from the nasty bug, but they still do just fine on other surfaces.
Bed Bugs like to hide in fabrics, bed frames, even small areas like screws.
What to do about Bed Bugs
If you have bed bugs then getting an air mattress can help you to get rid of them. You will need an air mattress that has an inflator built in; I’m a fan of the Intex Comfort Plush Elevated Dura-Beam Airbed*.
The last thing you want to do is stop sleeping like normal in your mattress. You don’t want the Bed Bugs to roam away from your bed and seek you out and thus spread them around the house.
To combat the Bed Bug issue, it is best to get a Mattress Encasement like this one** to protect or lock in wholly or out the bed bugs. This is an excellent way to protect yourself.
Bed Frame
The bed bugs like to hide everywhere, and that includes your bed frame. You probably have a wooden bed frame as this is the style they like the most. I would get a Metal Bed Frame before you get rid of your old bed frame.
I know it can be hard to get rid of a bed frame that you have had for so long but doing so can get rid of most of the bed bug colony.
Bed Bug Removal
Sleeping on an Air Mattress and going with a new metal bed frame will help a lot, but it won’t get rid of them all. You will need a professional pest control to come in and remove them.
Make sure to get a pest control that has a 30-day guarantee so that you can know the bugs are gone. It may take multiple sprays before they finish but in the end, it will be worth it.
