300 to 400 Pounds – What Is the Best Mattress?

I don’t think people get how important finding the right mattress is for individuals who are overweight. If the mattress is too soft, you’ll just sink into it, and it will become hard to get out. A mattress needs to be supportive, and most of the review sites just don’t get that.

Many of your mattresses you see online will just not work for someone who is over 300 pounds. You need a mattress that is very firm or you won’t be able to get out of bed.

What do I sleep on?

I’m not the biggest person nor am I the smallest, I’m 240 pounds, and I find that a memory foam mattress is the best for me.

Memory foam is firmer than most mattresses, but still can be bad for someone who weighs more. If you’re over 300 pounds, then you need to avoid the type of bed I use.

The mattress I use is the LUCID 10 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress. The Lucid mattress has the right amount of firmness but still sinks in a little bit that I find very supportive for my body.

300 to 400 pounds

If you’re over 300 pounds, then they do have a mattress that will work for you. Ultimate Sleep makes a custom made a mattress for people over 300 lbs. They will even contact you to find out what your weight is so that they can make the mattress fit your body the best.

This custom made mattress is something else, and you rarely see this in the mattress world. But this is what you need when you’re overweight. A run of the mill mattress will just make you madder and hate sleeping; no one wants to hate sleeping.

This mattress is called the Comfort Max 400 and is probably the best mattress you can find if you’re overweight. Even the reviews say it’s fantastic.

Bed Frame for Heavy People

You’ll also need a bed frame that can support your weight. You’ll want to avoid wooden frames and only stick with metal bed frames.

The bed frame I recommend the most is the Zinus 18 Inch Premium SmartBase. This bed frame is all metal, super easy to setup, and does not squeak. You can’t ask for a more sturdy platform bed frame!

Smaller Partner?

If you share a bed with a smaller partner, they may find the Comfort Max 400 to be too firm. The trick is to buy a twin size memory foam topper to make their side of the bed softer.

Sleep hot?

If you sleep hot, then I would recommend getting a cooling mattress protector. When buying a new mattress, I always recommend having a mattress protector to keep the mattress in good shape from spills. Also getting a cooling mattress protector will help to keep you from sweating through the night.
